Call Us Ishmael...

... if you must, but please don't fire your architect! Hometta was thrilled to be featured on Fast Company's website last week. The article is a reasoned assessment of the state of the ongoing quest for affordable modern architecture. However, we respectfully take issue with its headline, "Fire Your Architect."
Majority-owned by architects and designers, Hometta was created to supplement architects' custom practices by enabling them to design for homebuyers looking for smaller homes, often with smaller budgets. We hope through Hometta the work of outstanding architects and designers can become accessible to a much larger group of people.
But if you can afford to hire an architect to provide you with full-service, site-specific custom architecture, then by all means, keeping moving forward. Nothing pleases us more (especially if you hire one of our Hometta studios.) And even if you do buy a Hometta plan, you may still want to hire a local architect or designer to make modifications or shepherd the project to completion. So don't go Donald Trump on your architect. If you already have an architect or designer working for you, it's probably with good reason.
